Dodge Challenger SRT10 Unveiled

Filed under: Dodge — Jonas @ 4:33 am

The Senior Management of SRT vehicle (a Chrysler Car Division), Tom McCarthy, has recently spearheaded the development of a high-horsepower vehicle—the Dodge Challenger SRT10. The new vehicle was launched at SEMA last November 3.

McCarthy told reporters that the new Dodge Challenger was first conceptualized in February 2008. He also said that the team who worked on the Dodge was given a strict budget and schedule. The said conditions were set to make sure that the new Dodge would be affordable for the market. SRT Vehicle Development Engineer Garth LeVere said that the Dodge Challenger SRT10 was housed in a private SRT garage room in Michigan to ensure top secrecy.

Although much of the Dodge’s exterior has not undergone drastic changes, the new vehicle still has the hots to be on top of anyone’s list. For one, Dodge Challenger SRT10 has a 600-hp, 560 16-pt VID engine—enough reason to say that the new Dodge has really been Viperized.

Adding to the specs are its large brakes, the Dodge boasts a 390 millimeter six-piston Brembo calipers with two rotors on its front.

To ensure that the new vehicle has extra cooling for its Dodge Viper engine, the front fascia was opened up. A splitter for downforcing was also added. Topping the improvements are the 20 by 9 inches forged Alcoas front wheels. The rear was provided with 20 by 10 inch wheels of the same class and brand.

McCarthy and LeVere both agree that the Doge Challenger SRT10 was the end product of their team’s labor of love. With the current trend on hybrid and electric vehicles, a lot of car enthusiasts share the same opinion with McCarthy and LeVere. Some of them even noted that the new Dodge Challenger SRT10 is just a proof that top minded-people are still with the automobile industry.
