Before everyone goes getting excited about the sleek car pictured here, I have some bad news for some of you out there who like what you see. This car is marketed by HSCI — otherwise known as the Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., which is the subsidiary in India for the Japanese manufacturer. Meaning that, although the concept — called the Honda New Small Concept — will be unveiled in January in New Delhi, at the 2010 Auto Expo, it is pretty much only going to be available in India and Thailand, and not until 2011 at that.
Many design elements that are characteristic of Honda can be seen on the concept. The theme under which it was designed is known as Efficient Energetic Exterior.
Honda is a brand that is known not only for their incredibly built cars, but also for their compact cars. Did you know that Honda actually just announced recently that they are going to be debuting a brand new compact concept car at the Delhi Motor Show in January?
The brand new Honda CR-Z Concept Car is not only awesome, but it is one car that I think that is going to make all sorts of waves. Although Toyota sort of stole Honda’s thunder by announcing that they were going to unveil a brand new compact car at the same show … the Honda CR-Z Concept Car concept is still something that I am excited about.
So Honda – show off your true colors and let the Honda CR-Z Concept Car out of the box at the Delhi Motor Show!
You are viewing the Honda Skydeck concept, which is a hybrid that can seat up to six people. The concept is also an MPV. It was recently unveiled at this year’s motor show in Tokyo.
There are no B pillars in the concept vehicle. Its front doors scissor, its rear doors slide; both sets thus provide easy access to the inside of the vehicle. The components of the hybrid system, such as the vehicle’s high battery, are located in the central tunnel of the car, so the vehicle’s center of gravity is lower. Cabin space is also increased because of this design. As a result, there are three rows comprised of two seats each.
February of 2009 has been a major headache for the top six car manufacturers in US. Sales sank for more than 37 percent, and it is the worst ever, since December of 1981.
To note, General Motors had the biggest decline among the giant car companies with 53.1 percent, Ford Motor with 49.5 percent decline and Chrysler who slide down 44.0 percent. Toyota sales also sank with 39.8 percent, while Honda and Nissan with 37 percent.
A sad but true fact, US monthly sales still failed to rise, since October 2007, along with the 15-month global economic recession. For three consecutive months, the year-over-year decline was 0.7 percent. As for the month of February, consumer’ confidence decreased due to the impact of the economic recession.
Despite car manufacturers’ efforts to boost their car sales by incentive spending by 15.9 percent, still, the industry suffers decline in sales. Last February, Ford was traumatized with the collapse of its bestseller vehicle, the F-series pick-up, with only 23,614 trucks purchased, a dramatic decrease of 55.1 percent from a year earlier.
